The Week in Bitchery 9/3/2010

It may interest you to know that I don’t spend all my time writing bitchy things here on The Bitch Blog. I also do other very important things like eat, sleep and watch trash TV. But one of the things I also do is check out interesting links on the Interwebs. Here are my favorite links of the week and why you should read them:

Be Good to Yourself

I’m always advocating selfishness here on The Bitch Blog. Sometimes I get shit for it but I believe that you should treat yourself as well as you would anyone else. Should you be spending your kids’ lunch money on manicures and stilettos? Absolutely not. But in all the things you do fit in your schedule every day, not forget about yourself.

Be good to yourself.

Stupid Reasons To Use When Deciding Whether to Change Your Name After Getting Married

Stupid Reasons To Use When Deciding Whether to Change Your Name After Getting Married

Lately, it seems like I’ve been reading about women changing their last names after being married. It’s a pretty controversial subject and endless discussion on both sides. Although I’ve heard a lot of great reasons women have made their choices on both sides of the issue, I’ve also heard a lot of stupid ones. These are the most illogical reasons I’ve heard why women decided whether to change their names: Read more »

Alone Time in My Marriage

Today marks three weeks that my husband has been out of state. We live in Chicago and he’s in New York working for a temporary but indefinite amount of time. This isn’t the first time we’ve been apart for work or personal reasons. At one point in our marriage, we were away from each other for nearly six months. People are always shoked that we can be apart and stay happily married. I always tell them that we’re actually really married, not fake married. Which means that we can stay in love across state lines. Our relationship continues even if he leaves the zip code.

00435241 Dear Ms. Bitch: BFF Vs BF
My BFF hates my boyfriend. I’ve been best friends with her for six years and dating him for two year. No matter what he does, she has something bad to say about it. They get into stupid arguments all the time. And she refuses to even hang out with him. It’s putting a strain on my relationship with both of them. What do I do? Read more »

A Musical F!@#$% You

I’m gonna be honest with you guys: I don’t feel like writing a post today. It happens to the best of us. But I do feel like listening to Ceelo’s new song “Fuck You” again. This song is a lot like The Bitch Blog and The Bitch’s Guide to LoveIt’s fun, it’s upbeat and it’s honest. Oh, and it’s riddled  with curse words.

Bottom line? Sometimes, when things go bad in a relationship, you just have to say fuck you and move on with your life. So if you haven’t seen this video, (where have you been?) watch it and smile. And for those of you who have seen it, watch it for the millionth time and you smile too.

Writing about My Husband

 Writing about My Husband

Like most writers, I take what I write from my life. And when I’m writing about love, relationships or men, I draw from my own experience. Which of course includes my husband. Read more »

This Isn’t Facebook and I Don’t Give A Damn If You "Like" Me

This Isnt Facebook and I Dont Give A Damn If You "Like" Me
The only person’s “like” I can’t live without is my own.
I’m one of those people who you either love or hate almost immediately. Of course, everybody has the right to change their mind based on their individual interactions with me later. But the fact is I have a big personality even I’m not trying and most people develop a strong opinion about me right away. It’s been this way all of my life, so I’ve learned to accept the fact that I’m not everybody’s cup of tea. And I don’t waste my time trying to convince everyone what’s so great about me. They either get me or they don’t. This isn’t Facebook and there isn’t a “Like” button on my forehead. Read more »
